A restaurant with a long, low room and no daylight at the back. We lit it in layers — pendants over tables, a wash on the rear wall, candles at eye level — and kept the palette warm enough to sit in for three hours. Travertine, oxblood leather and brass carry the wear of a full service without looking new for long.
